2020 bullet journal flip-through pt. 2

(not my picture sadly)

Hello and welcome back! This is part two of my bullet journal flip-through. If you haven't read the first one, I highly suggest you do! It was my first year of bullet journaling, in 2019. You can click here to read it. This time I'm showing you my 2020 bullet journal. It is a mix of this pink one seen below, and my current one. Also, the lighting was really weird when I was taking pictures of everything, so I had to edit them. And, all of them are edited differently. Don't mind it. So let's get started!

my first bullet journal

This was my first actual bullet journal! It's from I brand I had never heard of, Minimalism Art. I don't think they sell this exact journal anymore, but here is a similar one (size small). I won't be reviewing it today, but comment down below if you would like me to later! All in all, I really liked this one. It wasn't the best one out there, but it did its job and looked cute.

I like the use of grey along with the black. It gives it more depth and makes it more interesting to look at. The page with 2020 written huge was one of my favorite spreads in the setup. It's simple, yet eye-catching. The spreads I need and theme ideas were super helpful, and I found myself flipping back to them often. But, as you can see, the places I visited remained blank. There is one missing picture, but I decided not to include it because it had all my passwords so you know. . . And on the last page, you see this weird diamond thing. That's because I tried to start this art deco theme for January, but it was not doing it for me.

I think I've finally solved the mystery on why all of my January themes don't live up to their fullest potential. I get really excited about Christmas, so when it's over I'm in a slump. The new year catches me by surprise and suddenly it's January again. I'm to busy trying to comprehend the year that I don't have the energy to make January pretty.

In theory, this constellation theme is nice, but the black and yellow is too bumblebee for my liking. A grey, silver, or gold would've worked much better with navy and other blues. And the "April" on the third slide was because I wasn't paying attention and just copied it.

Vice versa, I'm so disappointed in January that I overdo February. Last year, we had the stunning cherry blossoms. This year I used watercolor to paint crystals. This was a little bit more of a challenge than December last year, when I just used watercolor paper. Watercolor paper being just paper that I painted and then I could cut and tape accordingly. This time, I painted directly onto the paper. This made it kind of warped and smears easier. But it worked!

Aside from the varying shades of purple watercolor, I used bits of holographic stickers and and erasable purple highlighter. On the calendar, I added a books to read list. I want to log all of these books (especially Trials of Apollo!!! #percyjackson forever) and my bullet journal is the perfect time capsule to do it. All in all, love February!

I went for this tropical palm leaf theme for March. I love the jewel tones paired with the brighter colors. If I could change one thing, it would be the pairing of pastels with it. It reminds me too much of April, and I'd like to keep that seperate. On the calendar, you can see my friend, Laiaa, moving away. I've barely talked to her since, so just pointing that out in honor of our dear friend.

The trackers remind me of November last year, with the connected spreads. I have to do that more often! The playlist is so nostalgic, and I still regularly listen to Riptide (again, because of Percy Jackson). I used a lot of Dutch doors in 2020, something I should start doing again. The last weekly spread was the one the Ashley from bestdressed used, so I decided to give it a go! (More on that in April)

You can see what I meant in March with the pastels. I used the full set of erasable highlighters (similar set linked here). I used this lofi-girl theme, which I think is super cute! If I were to do it again, I would of done the dark theme, like when the girl is studying at 1 am. Nevertheless, it looks super cute and I'm proud of my younger self.

It looks like I started Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard in my quarantine boredom. The quarantine routine was helpful in romanticising the pandemic to keep me sane. You can see all the doodles I did, another time killer. Bestdressed's style of weekly organization was convinient for all the free time I suddenly had. Doesn't really work for my everyday life anymore.

I absolutely love this butterfly theme. It's super graceful and pretty. One critique is the shape of the butterflies. They are square-shaped and look unnatural. But the blending, patterns, watercolor, and holographic stickers are on point. I don't much to say for this one, but I would totally do this again in a different color.

I obsessed with vintage diners, arcades, and fashion, so this theme was perfect for me. The pink and teal combination reminds me of when I was younger, since those were the colors that everyone was obsessed with. The vintage theme and nostalgic colors mixed with the sweet taste of the end of school nearing makes looking at this a wonderful experience. I'm writing this while listening i wanna be your girlfriend so maybe that's just the song talking. But I love this!

We've made is to July! This is the last month in the pink bullet journal. I used a picnic theme for July, and it's so cute! I wish I had added some more colors like yellow, blue, and green, or made it a more cottagecore picnic instead of farmhouse, but I still love it. I like the connected trackers, but I'm not a huge fan of summarizing an entire week in a few words. I have a lot of mood swings, so it's really not enough. The playlist and trends page just puts me back in time. And not unlike the "ten years of Medha" in 2019, the eleven years is also unused. I think it's a great idea, I just never actually use it. On the last and only weekly spread, I used three extra sheets of paper for the ultimate set of Dutch doors.

My new and current bullet journal is Lemome bullet journal. For the quote page, I wrote "work for it more than you hope for it" which is a very fitting one. This was also the time when I realized how grid spacing works and I included it. It wasn't the best version, but I can fix that in my next bullet journal. The reflect and refresh is for a little more than half-way through the year break. It will probably be included in the middle of 2022, too. For some reason, I really love the grey swirls and lines. It reminds me of the river Styx. Again, I don't really know why.

I skipped August because I found myself not bullet journaling much in the summer, because there was nothing to be done. September is a redo of 2019's September, and I definitely did it way better. It seems for colorful and lively, and I used it more, too. I don't have much to say about this, but I probably won't do it again because I already did it twice.

october

Another redo I did was October. I can't say it was a complete redo because I barely used any of the spreads in Amanda's video and my own journal, but it was more of a redo of the Harry Potter theme. I'm actually super proud of this month. The illustrations were diverse but still well done, and I used most of my trackers. My favorite part has to be the Chamber of Secrets drawing on the fourth slide.

I used a lot of inspiration from Pinterest to make October's pages. I usually just save the inspiration to a secret board and then delete it once it's done. But if you want me to make it public and not delete them, I could totally do that.

I LOVE this month! Maybe February and November are my best bullet journal months. I did a moon and stars theme, using only a black marker. It was really different from my other months because of this. However, I accented it using the charcoal grey watercolor paper and bits of my old sheet music. If you are a musician, then please use your sheet music! Sometimes I use really old copies, duplicates, or music that caused me too much stress. Just rip it up and boom, you have an aesthetic page.

The playlist lettering took me ages to do, but it was so worth it. Then we have some more Dutch doors and November is complete!

december

Similarly to October, I didn't use a video to make this, just pins on Pinterest (go follow me @theextravagantfae). I took a lot of inspiration from Hogsmeade in Harry Potter world, when we went there in 2019. Hence the windows, wreaths, rooftops, and garlands. I actually don't have a lot of critique for this one, so you can see the growth. My Christmas playlist is incomplete, but on Spotify I have a playlist called christmas bangers that you can listen to! Spotify is @theextravagantmedha.

That's it for this week! Part three will be coming out in the next couple of weeks, along with January and February of 2022. I hope this inspired you to start bullet journaling and get on with your goals! Comment down below any blog post ideas for me and see you next week!
