From Pride and Prejudice to Little Women, period dramas have definitely made its mark on today's world. I love the Royalcore aesthetic, but I can't go all out with princess gowns and crowns (as much as I would want to). So today I'm sharing 7 wearable trends from the past that are back in.
1. Corsets
Corsets are a no brainer. They are super pretty, and contributed to the "innerwear as outerwear" trend. People think that corsets are super restricting a terrible, but in fact, historical corsets were not (don't mind Hollywood misinforming you again). And modern corset tops are simply structured tops.
2. Pearls
Whether stitched into your outfit or set into earrings, pearls add a subtle hint of rich classic. They can be dressed up or down. I actually used to hate pearls, but if used the right way, they can be super flattering.
3. Puff sleeves
I've mentioned puff sleeves before, and they deserve to be brought up again. They won't look good if they're subtle, those are so last decade. Instead, they need to be big and bold.
4. Collars
You can use collars to add a little drama to your day-to-day looks. They're super fun and can add some flair to a basic blouse.
5. Florals
Florals may not be groundbreaking, but these are different. The vintage "Grandmother's wallpaper" esc florals are unlike what you would see from modern retailers.
6. Lace
Lace is a common element seen in the high-fashion society, from their gloves to gowns. I'm super excited to be rocking lace tops when the weather gets warmer.
7. Empire waistline
I have always been a natural waistline girl, but I can't say that the empire waist trend didn't grab my attention. I'm planning to sew some empire waist tops and dresses, so stay tuned for a tutorial!
