It's a new season, and you know what that means: new trends! Many people think that in order to be "fashionable" you have to buy every single trend there is. And that's just not the case. I'm sharing 7 shoe trends that I'm skipping and 7 I'll be wearing instead.
Skipping: Chunky "grandpa" sneakers
Adopting: Retro sneakers
Don't even pretend like you don't know the grandpa sneakers. They were a very controversial topic in the fashion world a couple years ago. But now, it's time to let it go. Instead, we'll indulge in retro sneakers, a more agreeable shoe option.
Skipping: Clogs
Adopting: Strappy sandals
Clogs, unlike the grandpa sneakers, are actually trendy. Many fashion girls love clogs. They have that outrageousness which makes them a popular topic. However, I'm not a fan. Instead, I'll be going for the strappy sandals that have been spotted all over the runway.
Skipping: Oxfords
Adopting: Loafers
This one is really about your own preference. Both oxfords and loafers have a similar vibe, but I'm more of a fan of loafers. I just think they're more casual and easier to style.
Skipping: Combat boots
Adopting: Lug sole boots
I love a good pair of combat boots. It makes me feel like the main character is a dystopian fantasy novel. But, I'm not a fan of the super chunky soles of some. So, I'm opting for the more sleek and streamlined style of the lug sole, or Chelsea boots.
Skipping: Ultra-high stilettos
Adopting: Kitten heels
Even though I'm not allowed to wear super high heels, I still not drawn to them. Rather, the sculptural kitten heels are for my style. They're understated yet still fun and have a "personality".
Skipping: Platform flip-flops
Adopting: Heeled mules
I think you might be noticing a pattern here. Every shoe that is big and chunky is something I'm not a fan of. I get why they are appealing to some, but I'd rather go for heeled mules.
Skipping: Round toes
Adopting: Square toes
People think that ballet flats are out, which is a common misunderstanding. The round toe, cap heel, ballet flats people would wear with their flower crowns and circle skirts in the 2010's are out. The new, leather, flats with an angular toes are in. It's a good example of when small details and styling can make or break a style.
