Welcome back to The Extravagant! Today I'll be showing you 4 jewelry trends and how to diy them, along with more trends at the end. Jewelry making is such a fun hobby with a great payoff, so I suggest you try it out!
Some things you might need to buy are:
- Necklace and bracelet chains
- Plyers
- Beads and charms
- Earring hooks
- Jump rings
- Clasps
-Elastic string
All of these can be easily found at a craft store or Walmart.
Trend 1: Initial necklaces
Initial necklaces are back in, but to be honest, they were never out. Initial necklaces are a timeless piece that comes in in so many styles. You can buy them pretty much anywhere, but why buy one when they're so easy to make?
Directions
Find the middle of your necklace chain by folding it in half.
Open a jump ring and link it to the middle of the chain.
While the jump ring is still open, link an initial charm.
Close the jump ring
Add a clasp and jump ring to the ends if your chain doesn't already have one.

Trend 2: Safety pin earrings
Safety pin earring have been in for a while now, and there is no end in sight. I consider it a classier revival of the 70's punk phase. I hopped on the trend and found some of them on different sites. But, they were expensive for something that was based off of a household item. So it got my creative gears turning and I made my own.
Directions
Find 2 safety pins that are of the same size.
Open a jump ring and link it through the loop in the safety pin.
Attach an earring hook to the ring and close it.
Repeat for the other earring

Trend 3: Sassy kidcore accessories
Kidcore has been the trend that's been circulating the fashion world. My last post goes through some popular aesthetics, kidcore being one of them. These are super fun and perfect for summer, so I decided to give them a go.
Directions
Cut your elastic string so it can wrap around your wrist comfortably.
String on a variety of of colorful beads and charms.
If you want the sassy element, take some letter beads and spell out something.
Tie your string when you are done.
These ones are very customizable so you can make it completely your own. If you want a more professional look, use the initial necklace instructions and add several charms.

Trend 4: Unconventional pearls
One of my favorite jewelry trends this season are unconventional pearls. It's a twist on your classic pearl piece and instead is bold but still sophisticated. You can go in any direction with these, but I'll show you how I made this specific pair of earrings.
Directions
Pick out the pearl beads you will use, along with a wire that can be easily manipulated.
Slightly bend your wire and string on as many pearls as possible.
If you have a shorter pieces of wire like me, use small pliers to link it to another piece of wire.
Once you have a beaded wire long enough, bend it more to create a circle/triangle and attach the ends.
Repeat to create as many circles as you need.
Connect the circles using you pliers.
Attach an earring hook
Repeat for the other one.
