the hottest colors for spring 2022!

Hey guys, welcome back to The Extravagant! Spring is finally here and I'm super excited. As much as I love the holidays, I am not one for the cold. It makes my skin super dry and icky, you are tethered to your household, and it's just super depressing in general. So speaking from the POV of a person who's not burdened by spring allergies, it's a breath of fresh air.

Red Of The Season

The freshest red of the reason award goes to . . . saffron red! Just saffron is orange, but saffron red is a very bright and in-your-face red. It's basically just scarlet, but the fashion and beauty industry has to reinvent the same terms every couple of years to make it seem like they're presenting a new idea. This is one of the few color trends that I can actually see myself wearing. I don't wear a lot of red in general, only really dark shades that lean purple, so this would be such an easy way to get out of my comfort zone.

Orange Of The Season

The hottest shade of orange this spring is tangerine. This isn't a new concept by far, like Orange Blossom has been doing this since, what, 1999? Anywho, I consider this to be the 2022 equivalent to Kelly green. Both share the same bold, bright, and trend-potential. I'm less on board with this one, at least for me, because orange is the one color that I've never actually tried. I've never seen a shade that feels me while looking good on me. Even a couple years ago i told myself that I would get the emo Nico Di Angelo version of the Camp Half-Blood tee shirt instead of the obnoxiously orange one. But hey, maybe this will be the right shade to change my mind.

Yellow Of The Season

Everyone's favorite yellow seems to be butter yellow this year. I think this is such a warm and fresh hue. A lot of my pastel-lovers out there gravitate towards pinks, blues, and purples, so this can add another level of interest back in if you're stuck wearing those colors all of the time. But for me? I'll have to pass. I'm a dark autumn out of the 12 seasons, so you know that light, warm colors are not my jam. However, I am all for breaking fashion "rules" so I will consider it. The color is such a warm and spring-y color, so if you love pastels, this may be your new favorite color!

Green Of The Season

This has to be one of my favorites in the entire post. Many magazines predicted that really vibrant greens are in for the season, which is no surprise because of last year's obsession with Kelly green. The trend will carry over to this year, but there will be a new spotlight: lime green. Not quite neon, and not quite Kelly green. I think I briefly touched upon this in last week's post, but I'm not quite sure. Green is the one color that looks good on everyone, so it might be something you may consider trying out! Even if you aren't sold on lime, Kelly green and emerald green are good darker alternatives to the vibrant green.

Blue Of The Season

I definitely talked about this trend last week, and I now know that the exact color I was describing was cerulean. I have always had a love of cerulean, ever since I laid my eyes on the Crayola crayon in the 24-pack when I was six. This saturated blue is one of the only cool colors dark autumns can supposedly wear, and I can testify for that. If cerulean isn't your thing, sky blue, royal blue, and cobalt blue (my personal favorite) are also going to be trending this spring. Basically any color with "electric" or "bold" in front of it is cool.

Purple Of The Season

Now that I've said that, time to show you guys a muted color. Pantone's color of the year is Very Peri, short for periwinkle. Many runways showcased this, with varying shades of deep indigo to frosty blues. I'm not a huge fan because indigos just don't sit right with me. Maybe it's the fact that they're literally a tertiary color, why are they in the rainbow? All jokes aside, I'm picky with the colors I wear (as you probably have already seen) and especially with cool colors. I can be convinced otherwise, but I'll be sticking to my warm lilacs, thank you very much.

Pink Of The Season

One color that does look good on everyone is bubblegum pink. This was a huge deal last year, and I was so stoked to see a shade of pink that would look good on me. That being said, I do admit I have not purchased any clothing in this color. But we are not going to talk about that now. I couldn't find any good pictures on the runway, as you can tell by the quality, but the color I was really going for was a slightly softer color. But you get the idea.

Neutral Of The Season

We have finally made to the last color (which is technically not a color). The the colorless-color for the year is white. Specifically, all white outfits. There is one outfit that I'm thinking of, that is shown below. People are always raving over a little black dress, but what about a little white dress? For me, the LWD is a much more important part of my wardrobe. It would be really cool to style this in a 90's inspired grunge way. Which reminds me, would you like a monochromatic outfit post? It's been a while since I showed some of my own outfits, and it would be really fun to put together.

And that's it for today! Comment down below the color that you are most excited for, and the one you are the least. Mine would have to be cerulean and periwinkle respectively. Love you guys and see you next week!
