Hello and welcome back to The Extravagant! We're coming to the end of 2021, and I can't believe it. Like, where did the year go? But besides that, I think it's important to reflect before you jump in to the next thing. Therefore, today I'm showing you the clothes that carried me through 2021, and that I'll be bringing with me to 2022. So let's get started!
BOTTOMS
jeans of the year
Starting out strong, we have my favorite jeans! I got them from H + M and I have not regretted it. I literally wore them once a week for so long because they were just that great. These jeans are so versatile and can be worn with literally anything. They used to be a little bigger on me, but I guess I grew and they shrunk, so now they're just right. I prefer the earlier fit, but they look so good now!
skirt of the year
I got this skirt at Urban Outfitters on sale, so it was around $20. My sister went all "what were you thinking?" on me, but she was wrong. I wear this skirt so often, it's not even funny. The main color is black, with red, white, yellow, green, and blue plaid on it. The colors are so versatile in my wardrobe, which is made up of black with pops of color. It looks so great on me, the waist is perfect and it's not super short for a teen size.
dress of the year
The last category here is dresses. Yes, technically it isn't a bottom, but whatever. I got this dress at Target for my birthday last year, and I love it. It's just the right amount of casual, so I can comfortably wear it to school but still feel dressed-up. You might be realizing that a common theme in these pieces are that they go with everything. The fact that this dress is white and fairly long makes it easy to style. I'll make another post just about styling this dress, because I think that would be super fun. We are out with the LBD and in with the LWD! (And a little note: the dress does not come with the sleeves, I made those myself.)
TOPS
tee shirt of the year
In the summer I am particularly fond of my no-brainer outfits, one of which is just a white tee shirt and jeans. I wear this top so often because of three reasons. One, it's white, so it is perfect for the sweltering summer days. Two, it's cropped enough that I don't need to tuck it in to my jeans, so I can move around comfortably. Three, the elevated details really bring it together. The interesting neckline and lace/crochet detail on the hem makes it not completely boring. Sadly the top doesn't have that pearly glow seen in the picture on the left.
layering piece of the year
You've probably seen this piece in every outfit of every post, and for good reason. It's super comfy and the greatest for layering. You can bring any summer outfit into winter just with a turtleneck or mock-neck. This blurb is going to be short because since you have seen it in so many outfits, you must know a good deal about it already.
hoodie of the year
I just wanted to add this in to show that not all of my most worn clothes are ones that are super pretty. You'll probably never see me in it unless I'm doing a post specifically on comfy clothing. Every year I have the one hoodie that I wear every single day, without fail. This year I'm trying to space it out a bit, by wearing more layers underneath my main outfit rather than on top. But there's always those days. So on those days, this is my lifesaver.
Anyways, that's all for this week. Remember to comment down below, like, and subscribe, and feel free to reach out to me using the chat. Next week you may or may not get a post, it really depends on how I'm feeling. So in that case, have a great day and I hope your year starts out great!
