Part 2: Restyling Ever After High Characters

Hello and welcome back to The Extravagant! This week we have the long awaited sequel to my first Ever After High post. If you are unfamiliar, Ever After High was an animated show in 2013 based on the children of characters in fairy tales. It eventually got cancelled due to its trashy child, Descendants. The plot holes in that show were many, but the character design kind of made up for it. This time I'm restyling the Wonderlandians (Lizzie, Maddie, and Kitty), as well as Cupid. Let's get started!

Lizzie Hearts

Lizzie Hearts is the daughter of the Queen of Hearts and is one of my favorite characters. Her style is extravagant, pulling inspirations from the Tudor period of English fashion (rip Queen Elizabeth). Even though her mother is severe and outlandish, she usually dresses herself in soft silhouettes with a dash of Wonderland. The aesthetic I decided to go for is maximalist Royalcore, but still layered and soft.

Formal

She would love the first dress, a vintage Chanel piece, in black or red. We've seen her in various half skirts and overskirts, so it would fit her aesthetic. Of course, she would need something at her neck, so I added the red necklace specifically for the dress. It's an ode to her mother's favorite form of execution, but if it's too dark, then a heavy pearl choker or ruff collar would do just as well. I also found this type of collar, but I don't know what it's called. In red, it should be the finishing touch to her outfit.

Casual

Her casual look is what I envision her wearing in the Dragon Games and playing croquet. The jacket is perfect for her. The entire outfit on the model, however, is too simple for Lizzie. I assume she would wear the jacket with the corset on the right. I really wanted to give her Harley Quinn-like pants; the ones with half of the pant red and the other with diamond motifs. Sadly, there weren't any could pictures of what I was imagining. The white dress isn't an athletic one, but just another casual option.

Accessories

I found these heart things on Pinterest, and even though it doesn't directly relate to her costume, I just had to add them. It can be some sort of broach on her dress. She would definitely love the shoes in the middle. It checks all the boxes: red, velvet-y, and platform. The third item is a bit of a stretch, but the heart tights in black, gold, and red would be such a look. She does come from Wonderland, so she should be allowed to be a bit funky.

Hair + Makeup

The first photo is the best option for her makeup. The heart eyes and bright red stays true to her cartoon. My only problem with this is that it doesn't have the same high quality that the original has. It only works because Lizzie is a teenager in the series, and therefore cannot have perfect makeup skills. The second picture is another option with the classic Wonderland look. I decided on red streaked hair in the style of the last picture.

Kitty Cheshire

Kitty Cheshire is daughter of the Cheshire Cat of Alice in Wonderland. In an effort to please her mother, she tries to be more "evil", but her plan fails. Her goodness shows through in her clothing, which uses soft layers and bows. Her cat heritage is shown with fur trim, cat ears, and chevron to mimic the stripes of cats. I started out making her traditionally girly, but she ended up looking too much like a princess. So, I ended up changing her a bit to the soft alt of the late 2010's.

Formal

I don't see Kitty as the type to wear formal, full skirts, as she's not royalty, she's not a very popular character, and she comes from Wonderland. The color of the first dress mixed with the style of the second one would be very true to her. The fur shrug in black or violet would be the finishing touch.

Casual

All three of these outfits are great options for her casual looks, but give off wildly different vibes. One is a princess's swimsuit, the second is a TikTok girl, and the last is literally a K-pop idol. But with the accessories in the next section, they can all be melded into one character's wardrobe.

Accessories

Unconsiously, this entire photo dump turned out to be cold weather specific, and I'm rolling with it. The fur coat is similar to the one in the formal outfit, but more practical. The knee-high boots don't resemble Kitty's in the slightest, but they were fun so I added them anyways. The collar is reminiscent of a cat's. The leg warmers were just another fun accessory that were an ode to cats. Lastly, I thought she would love the tights. In her original design she wore grey chevron tights, but they were looking dated.

Hair + Makeup

I decided to stay true to her animated design and went for lilac hair. Two high ponytails is a classic look, but I wanted to change it up. So, the braided cat ears that were popular a few months ago and the mini braids were my contributions. Obviously, we had to go for cat eyeliner, but I thought it would also be cool if she actually had a cat eye, similar to Cerise.

Madeline Hatter

Madeline or Maddy Hatter, daughter of the Mad Hatter in Wonderland, is a fan favorite. She's kind, optimistic, a little crazy, and supportive. Her main color palette is teal and purple/pink, to match her hair, but she wears a variety of colors throughout the series. Her outfits are always over the top and mismatching.

Formal

Just like Kitty, she didn't seem like the type to wear a ball gown on a formal occasion. Since I already played around with short dresses, I went the top-and-skirt route for Maddy. The deconstructed suit and tulle skirt is cute as-is, but adding a top like in the second picture would also be a cute look. And to top it off, I found this teacup hat like the one she wears in the show. The entire ensemble in her colors would be such a look!

Casual

I could not decide on which dress to use, so I put all of them! The first two are Lirika Matoshi dresses, and are more of a statement. The last two are better to layer on with the accessories below. My favorite ones would have to be the spiral dresses and the orange one. Paired with a waistcoat would be just *chefs kiss*.

Accessories

These plaid tights would be the perfect addition to one of the casual dresses. Tights are a staple in EAH fashion, and Maddy would rock the bold colors. I noticed that she wore gloves in all of her outfits, so took I slightly different approach and used these ruffled sheer ones. The platform loafers were just too cute to resist.

Hair + Makeup

I couldn't find any good pictures for what I wanted her hair to look like, but then I found a picture of this dude. I don't know him but I'm assuming he's a kpop idol. This hair coloring on big, curly hair would be perfection. For makeup, I thought this messy, glittery look would suit her well. It was inspired by the glitter on her cheeks in a picture of her.

C.A. Cupid

C.A. Cupid, the daughter of Eros, is a transfer student from Monster High. You can see the clear difference between both of the shows in her style. Cupid takes a lot of inspiration from typical Roman and Greek wear. It gives her a more mature look compared to the other characters. I really wanted to lean into the soft, Aphrodite-esque look for her and do something a little different than the others.

Formal

I originally wanted to go for a Grecian look, but after seeing these dresses I couldn't resist. The first two tie in her Monster High past, and the third is the color she's seen wearing from time to time. I'm in love with all of these dresses.

The first pic is the dress I was planning to do before I found the three above. Still super cute! And the gold wings are perfect for her formal occasions.

Casual

The first dress is from a Vivienne Westwood bridal collection and I am obsessed with it. The way it's pretty and edgy at the same time draws the eye in. I'll use any excuse to showcase it on here. The second ensemble draws from the Greek goddess inspiration, and is giving so much at once. The last picture was chosen for it's use of layers, pink, and the gorgeous fabric.

Accessories

I thought this pink mask would be perfect for the Thronecoming episode. The safety-pin wing design would be a nice touch to an outerwear piece. I would make one myself if I had that many safety pins to spare. Lastly, the beret is from the iconic (at least in my head) episode, Through The Woods, where she sports a black beret.

Hair + Makeup

Pretty self-explanatory.

That's it for today! Make sure to leave a like, subscribe, and spread the word. Even though there are a lot of characters I would love to restyle, I don't think there will be a part three anytime soon. Comment down below your favorite Ever After High character and anything you want to see from me next. Bye!
