Top 5 animated shows with the best style

medhanagaraj7

Hello and welcome back to The Extravagant! My mind is reeling from the masterpiece that is Arcane, and I started thinking about other animated shows that have impacted my style. Before we get started, you should check out my jewelry business. I've made jewelry inspired by some of the shows we're going to discuss in this post.

1. NANA

Nana is a manga-turned-anime from the mid 2000s. It features two women, both named Nana, who seem like polar opposites. However, they happen to move into the same apartment, and become close friends. I started watching the anime, but stopped because it got too depressing. If you don't want to get psychic damage from watching the show, then you can always look at the dozens of screenshots on Pinterest, like I do. Each character has such a unique style, which provides endless inspiration.

Here are a few outfits that reminded me of Nana Osaki. If you want to see more, StealTheSpotlight has a 15 minute video with outfits inspired by characters in the anime. I've also heard that Ai Yazawa's other works like Paradise Kiss and My Neighborhood Story have good outfits.

2. Winx Club

Winx Club is an Italy-based teen show which aired from 2004 to 2019. The series follows the friendship of six fairies from different planets as they go through the trials of magic school, boys, and powerful villains. I watched all the seasons for free on YouTube, though I'm pretty sure seasons 6 and 7 are on Netflix (as well as the spin-off show, World of Winx). Let me say, these outfits are AMAZING. The colorful Y2K setting influences both the civilian outfits as well as their fairy transformation outfits. In the early seasons, the characters' individuality was strongly portrayed in their outfits. Hence, we get a variety of sporty, edgy, and girly outfits.

Here are some outfits I think a few of the Winx would wear, like Musa, Techna, and Aisha. But this is only one style on the spectrum. Lisa Fevral on YouTube has many discussion-style videos about Winx, so I would suggest checking that out.

3. Ever After High

Ever After High follows the children of fairytale characters. It was made by Mattel (the same company that made Monster High) and hence, displays a variety of amazing outfits throughout the show. The looks are too intricate for everyday, but it's fun to add little fantasy touches to your outfit. I've actually written two posts styling Ever After High as if it were a live action show, which you should check out (part 1 and part 2).

Here is a redesign I found on Pinterest that I thought was super fun and slightly more wearable.

I think Cupid would rock the coquette aesthetic. But you can really take any character from the show and put your own spin on them!

4. Monster High

Monster High is the cool older sister of Ever After High. And while the actual outfits are not practical at all, I love taking inspiration from general colors and vibes of characters. My favorite characters to take style inspiration from are Operetta, Scarah, and Cupid! I also love looking at fanart, restyles, and OCs that people have made.

Here are a few outfits inspired MH characters, like Spectra, Draculaura, and Clawdeen.

5. Arcane

Now Arcane isn't a show known for it's fashion, but I just had to include it in here. It's a stunningly animated show that created a unique world through storytelling devices like backgrounds, music, and character design. That has struck a chord in many fans, who have created their own interpretations of the show.

Every single character is so interesting and well-designed that it's hard not to get inspired when you see one of them. I want to do a full Arcane restyle soon, similar to my EAH series, so stay tuned for that!

Thanks for reading until the end! If you liked this post, make sure to leave a like and a comment. They're always appreciated.
